I thank the Lord Jesus for you always! I am so proud of you, the parishioners at St. James! You responded so beautifully in your generosity to the Afghan families who will be resettling here in Savannah and in Jacksonville! We surpassed every parish in Savannah in volunteering and in giving when called upon to meet these needs. I cannot tell you how my heart swelled with pride and gratitude for you! Thank you for your amazing response to help our brothers and sisters in need!
Thanksgiving Dinner!
Wednesday, November 10th, we have our Thanksgiving Parish Dinner! I know it is early, but we can never be grateful enough for all the blessings we have been given. Please come and share your gratitude to the Lord with your fellow parishioners. I encourage everyone to invite other parishioners and spend time with each other as a parish community. No need to cook that evening, come and share this meal with your brothers and sisters in Christ!
Monsignor William Oliver O’Neill
Last week, Msgr. William Oliver O’Neill passed away in Ireland after being ill in the hospital. He was a dear friend, brother, mentor, and priest. Before I came to St. James in 2017, I lived with him at the Cathedral for 10 years – the longest I have lived with anyone since leaving home! I will miss him tremendously.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
OCDS Retreat and Brothers Weekend
This weekend, I will be facilitating a retreat for the Secular Carmelites (a group of lay men and women and diocesan priests who are part of the Carmelite family). Please say a prayer for us.
Next weekend, I will be away in Washington, DC for a weekend trip with my brothers. Each year, my brothers and I go on a weekend trip to spend time with each other and just be brothers together without spouses and children. I treasure this weekend and this time each year!
Be assured of my thoughts and prayers for you and your families even when I am away! I thank the Lord and pray for you always!
May the Lord bless you and your families abundantly!
