The Sacrament of Confirmation

On Wednesday, March 6th, 56 of our 8th graders will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from the Holy Spirit through the prayer and imposition of hands of Bishop Parkes! What a joyful evening it will be! These young men and women will receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – Fear of the Lord, Piety, Knowledge, Fortitude, Counsel, Understanding, and Wisdom. An outpouring of the Holy Spirit will be upon them.

These gifts are given to us in Confirmation to help us become better disciples of Jesus Christ. They help us deepen our faith, strengthen our hope, and enliven our charity. Without them, we cannot be the people the Lord calls us to be and live the abundant life he gives us. This week in which these young men and women reminds us all of the gifts we have received and motivates us to pray for a new outpouring of these gifts in our lives.

Please pray for them as they receive this Sacrament from Almighty God!

PARISH MISSION
Our St. James Parish Mission will be March 18 – 20th. The theme is Eucharist and we will have three Redemptorist priests leading us through the Mission. Their apostolate is giving parish missions, so we are expecting a lot from them! This is a chance for us as a parish community to take a few days and reflect on the beauty of the Eucharist and the amazing gift we receive from our Lord – His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity! I hope to see you there!

GRAND MARSHALL
Congratulations to our St. James parishioner, John Forbes, who has been elected as the Grand Marshall of the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade! This will be the 200th parade here in Savannah! We are proud of John, Jennifer, and their family! May the Lord bless you abundantly as we celebrate the missionary St. Patrick! May his prayers and example help us to become better disciples of Jesus Christ, better Catholics!

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
To all who have contributed to the 2024 Annual Catholic Appeal, thank you! I invite all those who have not yet made a gift to participate in the building up of the Kingdom of God in our Diocese by being the Presence of Jesus to those throughout our Diocese of Savannah! I look forward to meeting our goal once again this year!

May the Lord Jesus bless you and your families abundantly this week!
