What a beautiful Feast we celebrate! Jesus gives us His Body and Blood to transform us and help us become one with Him so we can have life within us and bring Him to others. We are nourished by this spiritual food, the bread of heaven, the bread of angels. The whole Christian life and faith finds in the Body and Blood of Christ it’s source and summit. Everything flows from and leads to this most blessed gift!
Lumen Christi Adoration Chapel
At St. James, we cherish this gift in perpetual adoration in the Lumen Christi Adoration Chapel. It will reopen on Monday, June 7th, after the morning mass! Thank you to all the many people who have recommitted to their hour and those who have committed to give an hour of adoration for the first time! I have taken one of the early morning hours on Thursday. It is a little sacrifice that I can make for all He has done for me. The clergy of St. James have also taken an hour – 10am on Saturday morning. This hour will be offered for you, the parishioners of St. James. We will bring each of you, your families, and your intentions with us when we go to pray.
What about you or your group? Will you sign up to spend one hour with our Lord?
Summer Reading
Summer is a good time to slow down and pick up a book or two so that we can practice leisure and feed our intellect and souls. I recommend this summer two books by the same author, Dr. Brant Pitre: Jesus and the Jewish roots of the Eucharist and Jesus and the Jewish roots of Mary. I read both books recently and was astonished at how fruitful they were in my own prayer and ministry! I learned so much in those two books about the history and roots of what we believe and love about the Most Blessed Sacrament and the Mother of God. These two pillars of our faith keep us grounded. The more we know and understand, the stronger our faith becomes.
The Chosen and Cheesesteaks
Another opportunity to deepen our faith and understanding begins Sunday, June 6th! “The Chosen and Cheesesteaks” will begin on June 6th, Sunday afternoon after the 4pm Holy Hour and Vespers, at 5:00 PM and end at 7:00 PM. We will begin in the Conference Room, but hopefully need to move to the Parish Center/Gym! We will eat Cheesesteaks and watch an Episode of “The Chosen” followed by a discussion. I encourage each of you to join us and bring a friend!
May the Lord bless each of you and your families!
