On Thursday, March 10th, I entered an 8-day silent retreat with the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. (So, this Pastor’s Corner is obviously written before!) My final year in Seminary, 2003, was the last I went on an 8-day retreat like this. The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius are powerful and a wonderful experience of prayer and communion with our Lord! As part of the Alleluia School of Spiritual Direction, I am being directed in this retreat. The director, a Jesuit priest who comes highly recommended by good friends of mine who are phenomenal priests of the Society of Jesus, is at Manresa Retreat Center in Convent, Louisiana. When I saw this, I knew this was the retreat for me! (Great Cajun food to give me strength to pray!) I will carry each of you and your families with me as I go on retreat. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
I will return Monday, March 21st after spending some time with some family in south Louisiana and celebrating my Godmother’s 80th Birthday! It will be so good to see her and spend some time with her!
HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
Thursday, March 17th, is a big day here in Savannah! St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah is always a fantastic time with family and friends! On this day, I wish you and your families much fun and may wonderful memories be made this year! The parade was canceled in 2020 and in 2021. I am glad that it will happen this year as things continue to get back to normal! Y’all be safe and have a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
REMINDER
Don’t forget to say an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be for your fellow St. James parishioners. May we all be open to the abundant graces and blessings Our Lord has for us this Lenten Season!
UKRAINE
Continued prayers for the people of the Ukraine. May the Lord protect them and bring about peace in their land and an end to the Russian hostilities.
May the Lord Jesus bless you and your families abundantly this Lenten Season!
